Celebrating Diversity at Work

The Foundation is sponsoring a National Campaign to celebrate the contribution that migrants have made in workplaces throughout Australia.

This campaign will be promoted as “A Taste of Harmony” and be focused on “Celebrating Diversity at Work”.

“A Taste of Harmony 2009” will be an inaugural event designed to recognize, integrate and celebrate diversity and social cohesion within Australian workplaces. Its aim is:

“to encourage all workplaces to celebrate their diversity through sharing ethnically diverse foods, either in the workplace, or at a participating local restaurants”.

It will take place during the week of 16-22nd March 2009, coinciding with National Harmony Day on 21st March 2009.

Australia has a great deal to celebrate in relation to the cultural diversity of its workforce and during this week all Australian workplaces will be encourage to become involved in a celebration of the cultural diversity of the people who work within them through a luncheon activity.

A Supporting the Scanlon Foundation’s A Taste of Harmony campaign document has been prepared for the purpose of “Seeking Your Support” to participate in this campaign and/or to invite others to become involved. It describes how this might occur. You can of course visit, and invite others likewise to visit, the campaign’s website www.tasteofharmony.org.au
