The Scanlon Foundation is excited to announce that the 2018 community grants round is now open and taking applications. This year, the annual grants are focusing on 15 local government areas, funding projects that support the transition of migrants into the local community.

The Scanlon Foundation is seeking expressions of interest for projects that either support the transition of migrants into employment or support practical English literacy. Projects should consider the experience of migrants and of receiving communities and aim to nurture positive outcomes. All submissions are expected to also empower new arrival communities and develop cross cultural connections.

The Foundation is accepting applications from the following local government areas:

·       Blacktown, NSW

·       Canterbury-Bankstown, NSW

·       Cumberland, NSW

·       Fairfield, NSW

·       Liverpool, NSW

·       Parramatta, NSW

·       Wollongong, NSW

·       Logan, QLD

·       Inala, QLD

·       Ipswich, QLD

·       Murray Bridge, SA

·       Playford, SA

·       Port Adelaide Enfield, SA

·       City of Stirling (Mirrabooka), WA

The Scanlon Foundation is looking to support projects that demonstrate their contribution to social cohesion by

1.building pathways to employment; or
2. increasing applied English literacy.

Successful projects will need to fulfil the criteria relevant to either ‘pathways to employment’ OR ‘literacy’ below. In addition, all grants will be assessed against the innovation criteria.
